Schrofer Sketches
A book of sketches by a graphic designer is unique, and this collection of pre-digital era sketches by renowned Dutch graphic designer Jurriaan Schrofer is particularly fascinating, particularly for younger generations of designers who are discovering traditional methods of craft and analog design. Schrofer’s sketches are not only numerous, but also extremely varied—pencil, watercolor, pen and felt-tip; preliminary studies, proof prints, variations and other stages of the creation and production process.
Schrofer's sketches and illustrations from the period 1950-1990 have a special visual and poetic strength. For this publication a large collection of his sketches have been selected, introduced by an essay by art and design historian Frederike Huygen.
