Loes van Esch and Simone Trum, better known as the Rotterdam-based graphic design studio Team Thursday, have been collaborating since 2010. They specialize in designing graphic identities in the widest sense of the word, ranging from books to events and exhibitions, which always end up being colorful, typographically driven, and refreshingly fun. During their five-month stay in Seoul’s Changdong district, they fell in love with the local patterns on clothing and in the bricks of houses. These bricks ultimately inspired the vast, ever-expanding typographic family presented in this book.

Artist Michiel Huijben contributes a text about the possibilities for reading a city’s surface.
