Gathering illustrations from magical products collected in Mexico City's Mercada de Sonora (Sonora Market), Archivo de Simple Curiosidad (Archive of Simple Curiosity) documents the graphics that occur on labels for powders, oils and soaps. Beyond highlighting function, the graphic collection illuminate a visual landscape charged with history, desire, and belief.

This book proposes reading design as a symbolic system: the intersection of the ritual and the everyday, where magic adapts, circulates and persists. Collected together, a portrait emerges of lives seeking love, money, protection, and luck, of people actively seeking solutions in tangible objects in a world smoothed by algorithms.

This printed records presents a set of clues to that which cannot always be explained, yet continues to shape the ways we believe.
