TYPEONE: Issue 04
Issue 4 of the UK's TYPEONE Magazine champions under-represented creatives. This focus is part of the magazine's DNA, as it's genesis is associated with Femme Type, a platform and publication that aimed to address a lack of representation of women's typographic contributions.
TYPEONE's mission is to provide grounded advice from industry professionals, relatable content from designers at different stages of their career journeys, inspirational stories, and fresh, unique perspectives on the world of graphic design and typography.
Issue 04 includes an article on NFTs, Cryptocurrencies, Blockchain, and their impact on designers; "How to Design Your First Font," by Johanne Lian Olsen, "Affordability, Accessibility and Awareness: Problems the Type Design Industry Still Faces," "Threads: An Extended Exploration of African Writing Systems with Taurai Valerie Mtake and Fungi Dubes," "Structural Shifts: Design Education's Role in Fostering a More Diverse Graphic Design and Type Scene."
Also includes interviews with Ksenya Samarskaya and Debora Manetti, the founder of Zetafonts, and spotlights on Kristina Jandová, Hélène Marian, and Alli Cunanan. With sections on typeface design resources and a designer's directory of fonts.
Four designers were commissioned for alternate covers: Margot Lévêque, Zuzanna Rogatty, Kimya Gandhi, and Jorge Jacobs.
