Shannon Ebner - A Public Character
Artist book and catalog published on the occasion of Shannon Ebner's first major American solo exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami.
The Los Angeles-based artist's work across mediums—emerging from and referencing photography through a collaborative practice that includes sculpture, poetry, performance, and video—critically explores the role of images in the world. Includes collaborations with graphic designers David Reinfurt and Mark Owens, as well as multiple essays which trace Ebner's historical interpretations and her efforts to reflect upon our experience of language today, particularly at the intersection of landscape and architecture. Ebner's works demonstrate an artist's efforts to build a catalog of typographical imagery and reflect on the unstable nature of such an archive.
