Dreader Than Dreads: Posters by Fred Voisin
This very special set of prints features the work of Frédéric Voisin. Produced by le Signe, France's National Center of Graphic Design, to accompany the exhibition Dreader than Dread which featured examples of Voisin's wide-ranging practice and influence.
A printmaker, graphic designer, and photographer, Voisin influenced Jamaican and Nigerian musical movements. Voisin was among the first artists to work on Mac in the 1980s, which explains the very contemporary character of his creations. He created illustrated posters for reggae and other musical artists that performed in Paris at the time, including Yellowman, Aswad, Culture, Burning Spear, Dennis Brown, and many others.
This collection of posters includes a selection of these concert posters, along with a short text, "From Babylon to Zion," by journalist Olivier Cachin.
