Irma Boom: Colour Based On Nature
Colour Based on Nature highlights UNESCO World Heritage sites across the globe and on every continent. The color diagrams are derived from 80 natural locations designated by the UNESCO list and then tweaked by graphic designer Irma Boom to evoke and celebrate the essence of a place through color.
The sites selected range from the Great Barrier Reef in Australia to the Jungfrau in Switzerland. The resulting sequence of colors is an exercise in evoking location without words. Detailed information about the properties, why selected, and other qualities are also present in the book. The book—through Boom's analysis and graphic exploration—becomes a visual tribute to the reasons the World Heritage Sites have been protected for generations yet to come.
