Old-Style Alphabet Lettering Of Japan

Regular price $26.50

By Tomoyuki Onuma

After World War II there was a sharp increase in Japan of printed materials, notices, and signboards in foreign languages, particularly English.

Seen everywhere, they were so prolific that foreign languages became an aspect of everyday life for the Japanese.

The English letter styles in the various printed materials reflect delicate beauty, lightly rhymical lines, and dignified formal arrangements.

Originally published in 1967, this book is composed of one main section of alphabet and number fonts used for both practical and ornamental purposes, accompanied by a smaller section (on opposing pages) consisting of monograms formed from combinations of letters and numbers at a variety of angles.
