We Do our Best Work Together: Cooking and DesignInquiry
In 2019, the Institute of Contemporary Art at Maine College of Art mounted DesignInquiry: Futurespective, a celebration of DesignInquiry, a non-profit educational organization that explores pressing issues in design and culture. The exhibition was staged as a series of installations that demonstrated how DesignInquiry engages in open-ended extra-disciplinary exchange and traced the organization's activities over more than a decade of existence.
On the occasion of the exhibition, DesignInquiry published We Do our Best Work Together: Cooking and DesignInquiry. Every year, DesignInquiry's two dozen participants shape the cooking based on the availability of local and imported ingredients. As each group convenes, their backgrounds, allergies and eating habits, skills and expertise, come together to guarantee a diverse and stimulating culinary experience for all. This publication focuses on the communal experience of cooking as a creative activity embedded in DesignInquiry residencies.
With essays by Anita Cooney, Gabrielle Esperdy, Margo Halverson, Lucinda Hitchcock and Lucille Tenazas. Includes tips, recipes, and memories.
