Thoughts on graphic design possibilities seen through the lens of gender

Issue #389 of Idea Magazine examines feminism, the notion that all genders are equal. The first third of the issue looks at the work and struggles of contemporary Japanese and Korean feminist graphic designers, exhibitions about their work, and so much more. It also includes histories of important global feminist graphic designers and helps to chart a course of feminist herstory throughout graphic design, challenging traditional notions of gender and orientation.

The rest of the issue includes a feature on contemporary Swiss design, a feature on contemporary Asian political design, and a special supplement by Ian Lynam and Mr. Keedy about what design has come to look like after Postmodernism.

IDEA is Japan's leading graphic design magazine. Each issue offers insight into international and Japanese designers and their work through historical analysis, criticism, and examples of projects. In print since 1953, IDEA is a critical forum for design criticism in Asia.
