Plate Mono Typeface Specimen
Plate Mono is an all caps monospaced bold typeface inspired by the functionality of typefaces designed for OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software, made to be as legible as possible when being scanned. This method of typeface design creates interesting forms and serifs to ensure each character is distinguishable from the next.
In his interpretation of the form, British designer Daniel Reed subverts the idea of a functional typeface by adding a stencil to contrast its initial purpose.
