As a filmmaker he directed the critically acclaimed film \u003cem\u003eWorks of Calder\u003c\/em\u003e, about his friend Alexander Calder, with music composed by John Cage.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eMatter also played an important role in design education.
