A newsprint publication covering Lundgren+Lindqvist's trial & errors in attempting to design a unifying symbol for the HBTQ* Community.
“While we recognize the enormous value and rich history of the Rainbow flag, we have come to realize that there is a need for a companion. A symbol which is free from the technical demands posed by the reproduction of the Rainbow flag and free from the oppressive origins of the Pink Triangle...”
Presented as a case study — includes a visual history of symbols, essays, proposal, and poster campaign. Each newspaper comes folded in a transparent bag with a randomly selected colored symbol card.
*HBTQ is the customary Swedish initialism for homosexual, bisexual, transgender/transsexual and queer. It is the same as LGBTQ, but it doesn't distinguish between being lesbian or gay.
