Codex Hammurabi


A reproduction of the ancient Babylonian code of law. Dated to 1754 BC, it is one of the oldest-known texts of significant length. The sixth Babylonian king, Hammurabi, enacted the code during his reign and it consists of 282 laws. The text used for this publication is L.W. King's 1907 translation.
