Issue #28 of German design magazine Slanted explores the deep pool of contemporary design to be found in Warsaw, Poland.

Eighteen creative studios and individuals are highlighted, from old masters and legends (Rosław Szaybo, Mieczysław Wasilewski) to younger practitioners (Noviki, Type2, Jakub de Barbaro, and Edgar Bąk Studio). Other well known figures from the contemporary design scene — Łukasz Dziedzic, FONTARTE, HUNCWOT, Grzegorz Laszuk, Mamastudio, Super Super, Syfon Studio, Jacek Utko, UVMW, White Cat Studio, and Zerkaj Studio — are also featured.

Illustrations, photography, interviews and essay round out this rich documentation of Polish graphic design. Includes essays on: the generations of designers and graphic artists, 1900-1945, who set the stage for contemporary graphic design in Poland; the emergence of kiosks (small-scale architecture), Polish music bootlegs and mix tape culture, and associated vernacular design; the Polish Exhibition of Graphic Symbols, first held in 1969, and then reconstructed in 2015; the International Warsaw Poster Biennale, and the controversial decision to replace the esteemed competition with a curated exhibition; a profile of designer Mieczysław Berman (1903-1975); "A Guide to Mental Acceptance: Between the East and the West”; and many more texts.
