Norm was formed in 1999, and today involves the graphic designers Dimitri Bruni, Manuel Krebs, and Ludovic Varone.
The Swiss studio’s precise solutions are characterized by reduction and strict rules like grids, proportions, and modularity, based on a rich structure of ideas.
While producing innovative typefaces (LL Simple, LL Replica), books, posters, and corporate designs, the studio also pursues research projects that explore the limits of graphic design. Their work has included a custom typeface for the watch makers Omega (in collaboration with Aurèle Sack); publications for artists such as Andro Wekua, Shirana Shahbazi, and Peter Fischli & David Weiss; as well as the corporate identity of Swatch watches (2010-15) and signage for the SANAA-designed Musée du Louvre-Lens (2010–12). In 2011, Norm was awarded the Swiss Grand Prix for Design.
Dimension of Two accompanies Norm’s first museum exhibition, It’s Not Complicated, at the Museum of Design Zurich. This book presents their vision of the most fundamental elements and laws of graphic art, both today and in the future.
