The Best Dutch Book Designs 2012

Regular price $38.00

The annual Best Dutch Book Designs catalogue 2012 was designed by Studio Joost Grootens, a studio frequently recognized for their find design of atlases and other infographic-rich books.

Grootens chose to enhance the traditional contents of the annual catalogue with an inquiry into the reputations of the publishers, graphic designers and printers recognized by the Best Dutch Book Designs of 2012 competition.

The results of his research were keyed to colors which were then matched to historic listings and applied to the images of spreads from the award-winning books. Pages from the winning books are presented at full size. A short essay by Joost Grootens clearly lays out his process.

Winning titles are accompanied by commentary that discusses content, design, and production based on the jury's assessment.

Jury members for the 2012 competition were Johan Holterman, Ada Lopes Cardozo, Rob van den Nieuwenhuizen, Marlies Visser, and Peter de Winter.
