Revue Faire No. 5 (An Instagram post: P/Pa/Para/Paradiso by jetset_experimental [July 1 2017])
In the fifth issue of Revue Faire [To Look at Things], graphic designer Manon Bruet uses a 2017 Instagram post by Experimental Jetset—showing their work for the Paradiso center for music and culture in Amsterdam, and captioned “P/Pa/Para/Paradiso”—as a starting point to discuss Experimental Jetset's work for Paradiso, before entering into a broader discussion about the way images on social networks are produced and consumed by graphic designers. Bruet creates a taxonomy for posts of graphic design work and discusses the implications of remix culture—along with the ubiquity of social media applications—for the field of graphic design.
Revue Faire, launched in 2017, is a regularly published critical publication dedicated to the analysis of graphic design, with a particular focus on France, and a broader focus on graphic design in Europe. Each year, 15 bilingual (French and English) 20-page issues are planned to be published. The series, curated by Sacha Léopold and François Havegeer, works with various invited authors; each issue documents a unique, tentacular subject of interest to graphic designers.
